RAJM KOOTU


INGREDIENTS: 
  1. Rajma                                    -  1 cup
  2. Toor dal                                 -  1 cup
  3. Green chillies finely chopped   -  2 nos
  4. Onion finely chopped              -  1 nos
  5. Tomato finely chopped           -  1nos
  6. Salt to taste
  7. Turmeric                                - a pinch

FOR KOOTU POWDER:
  1. Black pepper               -  1/2 tsp
  2. Cumin seeds                -  1/2 tsp
  3. Coriander seeds           -  1/2 tsp
  4. Dry coconut powder     -  1/2 tsp
FOR TEMPERING:
  1. Oil                    -  2 tbsp
  2. Mustard seeds  -  1/4 tsp

METHOD: 
  • For kootu powder fry black pepper,cumin seeds and coriander seeds in a pan and allow to cool.
  • Grind all three fried ingredients and coconut powder keep a side.
  • Soak rajma for 5 hours.
  • Cook soaked rajma and toor dal in cooker.
  • In a pan heat oil add mustard seeds allow to splutter.
  • Add onions and green chillies fry till light brown.
  • Add tomatoes cook till it becomes soft.
  • Now add coked dal, kootu powder salt and turmeric powder to it, cook for 15 minutes.
  • Garnish with coriander leaves.
  • Serve hot with rice or roti
